A CELEBRATION OF LIFE is the story of one POW?s 54-year journey since the Korean War, his 34 months in POW camps, suffered brutal treatment from guards on ?Death Marches? while many died or were killed by the guards. At the camps men faced constant pain inflicted by guards, little or no food or heat, no sanitary conditions, and no medical care. They constantly killed lice in their ragged clothes before the lice killed them, helped carry the dead outside to freeze before the lice left the dead to make homes in their own rags, and ate what little food was provided or whatever they could find. They learned to care for others needing help to walk, encouraged those needing help to stay alive, shared equally food given or found, helped others eat food unfit for starving dogs. They would cook and eat anything green, what moved, and even what looked like it shouldn?t be eaten. If a guy refused to eat, they would talk, walk, or yell to get them to eat. But even then, the guy may die that night.
