In the summer of 1988, Lou Acosta (a.k.a. Brother Lew) was left for dead in a coma when the nurses couldn’t get a heartbeat or a pulse. A few hours later at Ohio State University Hospital Lou woke up to a crowded hospital ward. The Spirit of the Lord moved Lou that night to join God’s Army of Servants. Since that miraculous evening, Lou decided to leave behind that New York City lifestyle that he had grown to know. Now Lou proudly testifies about the goodness of God’s grace, peace, love, and salvation. Lou’s testimonies are reflected in his lyrics, whether he’s reflecting his fatherless childhood, gangbanger lifestyle, or the contract hits on his life. Lou gives God credit for protecting him throughout his life and keeping him for this very day. God has used Brother Lew to help birth over 50 ministries in the last 13 years, and thousands have come to the Lord through Gospel Rap music.
