Evangelical Lutheran Dogmatics 3

Adolf Hoenecke (1835-1908) is one of America’s foremost Lutheran theologians. His examination of doctrine and practice always begins in Scripture. This is an English translation from the author’s original language of German. Volume 3 starts on the subject of soteriology–the doctrine of salvation. Included are the doctrine of election, Christology, and the order of salvation: the call, enlightenment, rebirth, conversion, repentance, justification, the mystical union of believers with God, and sanctification. The author also examines the teachings of errorists from ancient times through the 19th century. At a time when thinking concerning justification and sanctification is muddled even among some Lutherans, Hoenecke’s precise and thoroughly scriptural writing is a breath of fresh air.
Included in this volume are an outline for all four volumes, indexes, and a translator’s forward.
