Faith Of Ashish

Virat knows what he must do. With a broom fastened to his back to erase evidence of his unworthy presence and a tin cup over his mouth so his breath will not pollute the ground upon which high-caste feet trod, he tops the hill that divides his people from theirs. Beating a drum he calls out: “Untouchable coming!” Only one thing could have persuaded Virat to venture into the dangerous realm of the high-caste – his beloved son named Ashish, which means “blessing.” The child needs a doctor, so Virat needs money.

At the lavish home of Kumar Lal, the wealthy landowner who can trace his lineage back to a convert of the Apostle Thomas, Virat begs for help. He gets the loan – along with a life of slavery for himself and his family.

But Kumar Lal does not understand the strength of a father’s love…nor the loving determination of a young British nurse who cannot forget a boy named Blessing.
